David “Hoot” Gibson Named ABET Fellow in 2024

David S. “Hoot” Gibson received the Fellow of ABET Award in November 2024 for sustained leadership and service to ABET while building the first bridges to the community college’ computing community leading to the first accreditation of computing programs at the associate level.   He is professor emeritus of Computer and Cyber Sciences at the United States Air Force Academy and a retired Air Force Brigadier General.  At the Air Force Academy, he established one of the first undergraduate cybersecurity degrees, and was a principal co-author of the ACM’s Cybersecurity Curricular Guidelines (CSEC 2017). At the awards ceremony, Hoot and joined several other CSAB members who are also ABET Fellows.  In attendance were Andrew Phillips, Donna Reese, Jean Blair, and Larry Jones.
