At the July 2026 ABET commission meetings, the Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC) approved for implementation a new Program Criteria for the discipline of Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI / ML) and similarly named programs. The final step in approval will be on 6 November 2026 when the Computing Area Delegation (CAD) is expected to also approve it. Once that occurs, the effective implementation date of this new program criteria will be Fall 2027.
